Vancouver has been described as the most Asian city outside Asia and is the home of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. As both a North American gateway to Asia and an Asian gateway to North America, Vancouver is the ideal location to host Canada-Asia 2013. Vancouver is renowned for its cultural diversity, natural beauty, culinary excellence and hospitality. Below is a guide to help you plan your trip to attend Canada-Asia 2013 in Vancouver from June 3-5, 2013. We look forward to welcoming you!

Location

The Conference and the Gala dinner will be held at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel.  Click here for a map of the hotel’s location.  For information on how to get from the airport to the hotel, see below.

Travel

By Air:

The Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has been consistently rated as one of the best in the world.  Located just outside of Vancouver in Richmond, BC, YVR will be your point of entry to Vancouver if you travel by air.

By Ground:

To travel from the airport into downtown Vancouver there are several options:

  • Canada Line: The Canada line is a rapid transit train built for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.  Access to the Canada Line is located between the domestic and international terminals at YVR. The ride to downtown Vancouver will take approximately 26 minutes.  The cost for one adult to take the Canada Line is $8.75. You can get more information about the Canada Line here. If you are staying at the conference hotel, the Fairmont Waterfront, take the Canada Line to the last stop at Waterfront Station. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the station.
  • Taxis: Taxis are available at both the domestic and international terminals and cost approximately $30 to travel to downtown Vancouver.  If you need a taxi while you are in Vancouver, call either 604- 681-1111 for Yellow Cab or 604-683-4567 for Black Top and Checker Cabs.
  • Town cars and limos: Town cars and limos are readily available at YVR. Click here to view the current rates.

Requirements to Enter Canada

All persons entering into Canada must have a valid passport and may need to meet several other eligibility criteria. Depending on your country of origin, you may need a Visa to legally enter Canada. If your require a visa, we can provide an invitation letter to support your visa application. If you need an invitation letter, please email ca2013@asiapacific.ca and ask for a copy of the Canada-Asia 2013 invitation letter.
